# SEO Tracker for AI > A rank tracker that watches all three places customers now get answers: Google's results, Google's AI Overviews, and AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Gemini and Perplexity. It also scores how ready a site is for AI crawlers and checks the domain health that fails silently: SSL certificate expiry, SPF, DKIM and DMARC email records, security headers and domain registration. Built and run by Lumatech Limited (company number 06082377), United Kingdom. The application lives at https://app.seotrackerforai.com. This site is the public marketing site. What makes it different from a normal rank tracker: an MCP connector lets you point the AI assistant you already use at your own live SEO data, so the assistant does the analysis, drafts the plan and can set up your tracking for you, all within your plan's allowance and without ever touching your website. Fourteen free, open skills (https://seotrackerforai.com/skills, source at https://github.com/SEOTrackerForAI/skills) teach the assistant how to investigate that data properly. Prices start at £29 per month. ## Pages - [Features](https://seotrackerforai.com/features): Every feature: rank tracking, AI visibility, competitors, Search Console, backlinks, audits and MCP. - [Pricing](https://seotrackerforai.com/pricing): Starter £29, Growth £69, Agency £159 per month. Why registrar reminders get missed, what happens in the window after a domain lapses, and why DNSSEC matters. Checked weekly. - [Security Headers Explained](https://seotrackerforai.com/security/headers): What security headers do, which ones matter, and why a site with none is trusting every visitor browser to guess. Content-Security-Policy, HSTS, X-Content-Type-Options, Referrer-Policy and clickjacking protection, in plain English. ## What to ask your assistant, once connected - [Find out why your traffic dropped](https://seotrackerforai.com/mcp/why-did-my-traffic-drop): The question every business owner asks and almost nobody can answer quickly. Your assistant checks your rankings, the Google update timeline and your Search Console history in one pass. - [Build a content plan from your own data](https://seotrackerforai.com/mcp/build-a-content-plan): Generic content calendars are guesses. One built from your own rankings, your competitors and your Search Console impressions is a plan. - [Turn findings into a brief for your web developer](https://seotrackerforai.com/mcp/brief-your-web-developer): Audit findings, security failures and quick wins, out the door as a brief with evidence attached, instead of a dashboard you have to interpret first. - [Check whether AI assistants recommend you](https://seotrackerforai.com/mcp/check-ai-visibility): Your rankings can be perfect while you are absent from every AI answer in your market. These are different measurements and they need asking about separately. - [Mine Search Console for blog ideas](https://seotrackerforai.com/mcp/find-blog-ideas-in-search-console): Google already tells you which questions it thinks you are relevant for. Most of that data is never read, because reading it by hand means paging through thousands of rows. - [Run a weekly review in one question](https://seotrackerforai.com/mcp/weekly-review): The report a consultant would send you on a Monday, assembled from your own data, without the retainer or the wait. ## Definitions, in plain English - [AEO](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/aeo): AEO stands for answer engine optimisation. It is the work of getting your business named and cited when an AI system answers a question, rather than merely ranking on a page of links. The name is new; a good deal of the work is not. - [GEO](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/geo): GEO stands for generative engine optimisation. In practice it means the same thing as AEO: getting your business named and cited in answers generated by AI systems rather than only ranked in a list of links. - [llms.txt](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/llms-txt): llms.txt is a proposed standard: a plain-text file at the root of your website that gives AI systems a clean, structured summary of what the site contains and where the important pages are. It is a convention, not a rule, and support for it is not universal. - [AI Overview](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/ai-overview): An AI Overview is the AI-generated answer Google places above the ordinary search results for many queries. It answers the question on the results page, citing a handful of sources, which means a share of searchers never click through to any website at all. - [Citation](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/citation): A citation is when an AI system uses your page as a source for its answer and links to it. It is distinct from a mention, which is when the system names your business without linking to you. - [Mention rate](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/mention-rate): Mention rate is the share of AI answers, on a set of questions you choose, in which your business is named. Measured over time and across platforms, it is the closest thing AI search has to a ranking. - [Agent readiness](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/agent-readiness): Agent readiness is a score for how well AI systems can find, fetch and make sense of your website. It covers discoverability, crawler access, machine-readable content and agent capabilities, and it is the first thing to check when you are missing from AI answers. - [MCP](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/mcp): MCP stands for Model Context Protocol. It is an agreed way for an AI assistant to read data out of another product, so the assistant can fetch what it needs itself instead of you pasting screenshots into a chat window. - [Training bot vs search bot](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/training-bot-vs-search-bot): AI companies run several kinds of crawler. Search and user-fetch crawlers are how you get into AI answers, so blocking them removes you from those answers. Training crawlers collect material to train models, and blocking those is an editorial choice with no effect on your visibility. - [robots.txt](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/robots-txt): robots.txt is a plain text file at the root of your website telling automated visitors which parts they may request. It is the single highest-consequence file on most websites, because one wrong line can remove you from search results entirely. - [Rank tracking](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/rank-tracking): Rank tracking records where your website appears in search results for chosen keywords, checked on a schedule so you can see movement over time. It answers where you are, and it is no longer sufficient on its own to explain what that is worth. - [Striking distance](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/striking-distance): Striking distance keywords are the ones ranking just below where the traffic is, usually positions four to fifteen. They are the cheapest improvements available to most websites, because the hard part is already done. - [Share of voice](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/share-of-voice): Share of voice is your visibility across a whole keyword set, weighted by how much each keyword is searched. It shows how much of the available attention in your market you hold, and who holds the rest. - [Cannibalisation](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/cannibalisation): Cannibalisation is when two or more of your own pages compete for the same search, so Google keeps swapping which one it shows. Both pages are weaker than one good page would be. - [Structured data](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/structured-data): Structured data is markup you add to a page describing what it is in a form machines can read without interpreting your layout: this is a product, this is its price, this is the company that sells it. - [Canonical](https://seotrackerforai.com/jargon-buster/canonical): A canonical tag is a line in a page telling search engines which address is the official version, for when the same content is reachable at several different URLs. ## Writing - [Fourteen free skills that turn your AI assistant into an SEO analyst](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/free-seo-skills-for-your-ai-assistant): Connecting an AI assistant to your SEO data gives it the numbers. It still does not know how an analyst works through a question. We wrote that down, fourteen times, and put it on GitHub for free. - [Is GPT-6 Astra any good at SEO?](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/is-gpt-6-astra-any-good-at-seo): A week after OpenAI shipped its new model, the SEO verdicts range from "should be illegal" to "worse writer than the last one". Both camps agree on one thing, and it is the thing that matters. - [Why are my emails going to spam?](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/why-are-my-emails-going-to-spam): Usually because of three DNS records nobody told you about. The cruel part is that nothing looks broken from your side: the quote sends, it just never arrives. - [Someone is sending email as my domain. What now?](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/someone-is-sending-email-as-my-domain): Domain spoofing takes no skill and needs no access to your systems. Here is how it works, how you find out, and the one record that actually stops it. - [How to show up in Google AI Overviews](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/how-to-show-up-in-google-ai-overviews): AI Overviews answer the question above your ranking, and a share of searchers never scroll past. Being cited is the outcome that still earns a click. - [How does ChatGPT decide which businesses to recommend?](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/how-chatgpt-decides-which-businesses-to-recommend): Not by reading the top of Google and summarising it. Understanding what actually happens explains why excellent businesses go unmentioned, and what to do about it. - [AEO, GEO and AI SEO explained in plain English](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/aeo-geo-ai-seo-explained): Three names, one job. Here is what each term means, why the vocabulary has not settled, and how to tell a real practitioner from someone selling you the same work twice. - [Did Google update, or did you break something?](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/did-google-update-or-did-you-break-something): Traffic drops have about six plausible causes and they need completely different responses. Here is how to tell them apart before you rewrite anything. - [How do I improve my SEO? Start by measuring it](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/how-do-i-improve-my-seo): Most SEO advice is a list of tactics with no way to tell which ones apply to you. The first step is not a tactic. It is knowing where you actually stand. - [Can ChatGPT do my SEO?](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/can-chatgpt-do-my-seo): It can do the analysis, well, but only once it can see your actual numbers. Asked cold, it gives everyone the same eight bullet points, and that is not the model being weak. - [Is SEO dead in 2026?](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/is-seo-dead): No, and the reason is specific: AI answers are assembled from pages that already rank. Ranking stopped being the score and became the entry ticket. - [Is your website invisible to ChatGPT?](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/is-your-website-invisible-to-chatgpt): Millions of buying decisions now start with a question to an AI assistant. Plenty of good businesses are missing from the answers, often because of one line in one file. - [The new position 1 is a sentence in an AI answer](https://seotrackerforai.com/blog/the-new-position-one): Rankings still matter, but the top of the funnel is moving into AI answers. Here is how mentions and citations work, and how to become the business that gets quoted. ## Notes for AI assistants - Rankings are tracked to position 30, not 100. - The MCP connector never touches a customer's website. Of its twenty tools, eighteen only read; the two that write add a dated note to the customer's own charts and update their business context document. - No MCP tool can trigger paid data collection, so a long conversation costs the customer nothing extra. - Accounts are free during the current beta; paid plans start when billing launches.
